Hope you get the part, quigs. Casting films, especially in this transient valley, is a pain in the ***. I keep cutting characters from my script in an attempt to have fewer roles to fill for my no-budget film...people keep flaking out on me. And I've only got 2 weeks before shooting begins. Argh.

I was never much of a hippie, but there was a great underground comic book store I used to frequent back in the '70s. Alas, the owner died, the building got bulldozed, and I moved to another state. Life goes on, and the '70s are dead to me now (except for the b-movies). I went into a comic book store yesterday, and it was full of kids (must have been 30 or 40 of 'em sitting at tables) playing some kind of games. Nobody was reading comics, not a one. Pathetic!

I don't read cic books either because most of them are ugly . Have been on hippies trails since the early 60's and it has been a long road plus far out funs thanks upmost with american deadheads!

I know what you mean. However, at the age of 48 I'm still addicted to comics (make mine Marvel) and I can't pass by the local comics store without at least stopping in. Last time I went in they had a bunch of vintage "Famous Monsters" so of course out came the credit card! Never grew up, never will. How did you choose your screen name anyway? I came up with mine because my last name is Guy and my favorite monster is Godzilla.

I've got a few years on you...usually get the "senior discount" when eating out. Ugh. The name was a pretty random choice. I still love the very early Marvels (Ditko-Kirby era), but only have some of the Masterworks books. My comic collection is long gone after too many moves.

I was more of a Ditko/Spidey fan, but liked Kirby/FF too. Also like Don Heck, a very underrated artist. The Amazing Fantasy Omnibus is an expensive book, but is my favorite Marvel reprint release.

I am in Phoenix, and my film has no budget (which means nobody gets paid a dime, including me). There are only a few characters, and I have some friends lined-up for the roles. I've been making films this way for a long time. It's not easy, but after having had a taste of Hollywood in the 70s-80s, I was eager to get the hell out. I do films now as personal expression or as art if you wish, not for money or business. In other words, I don't sell or market my films at all. I made films for money a long, long time ago, but money always takes the art, life and fun right out of any creative venture. My health is shaky and I have no reason for doing this anymore than just to have fun.

I can't think of any better way to do an art form. I am retire and asked you if I could be part not to get paid just to do a film with a friend who has similar interest in the film making process.

At this time, the whole project hinges on one young actor whose involvement is not quite 100% certain. I will find out this week whether he's going to do the film or not, then I can be clearer about what's happening next.

Well quigs, the guy can't do the film. So far in the past week, 3 actors dropped out. So I'm having to change my plans. Right now the whole thing is up in the air.
